Art Basel Conversations
By staging public encounters between leading cultural figures, the morning Art Basel Conversations offer the audience of Art Basel Miami Beach access to first-hand information on important aspects of the international artworld. This year Art Basel Conversations will be located at Collins Park, between 21st and 22nd Streets, in the Oceanfront environment, created by Pae White in collaboration with the legendary public art organisation Creative Time.

Taking place since 2004 in both Basel and Miami Beach, Art Basel Conversations is a forum that encourages a lively exchange of ideas, through a series of platform discussions that can range from single artists exploring their practice to larger panels that include the leading players within regional scenes and fields of artistic activity. Presenting their current and upcoming projects, reporting on their experi- ences and commenting on the challenges they face, these speakers provide an insider’s view and open up the opportunity for dynamic and inspiring dialog.

After each Art Basel Conversation, there is time allotted for the audience to ap- proach the panel in a more informal fashion. The Art Basel Conversations forum promises to be intellectually exciting this year, as panelists include such renowned artists, collectors, curators, and critics as Ai Weiwei, Marc Mayer, Timothy Rub, Philippe Vergne, Osvaldo Sanchez, Lynn Zelevansky, César Cervantes, Jay Khalifeh, Juan Vergez and Patricia Pearson-Vergez, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Raphael Montañez Ortiz, Pedro Reyes, Peter Saville and Kate?ina Šedá. Panel topics include: “Museum Directors: Change in Generation”, “Art Collections in Latin America” and “The Future of the Museum: The Portable Museum”.
